>> abc7 news starts right now with breaking news. >> the breaking news overnight from oakland where police arrest the father of a missing toddler as they continue to search for the girl, the amber alert is still on. >> good morning, i am eric thomas. >> the father said he left his daughter in the vehicle and she was gone when he returned. the arrest comes after a door do door search for daphne viola webb. katie marzullo has the latest from oakland. >> police just gave us new information on this case. one, they have arrested the girl's father, john webb.

two, the active search for the girl continues. this is still a missing person kidnapping case. look at this video just from this morning. you can see the police k-9 unit at the family home. it is one of three search locations. there is the waterfront near the airport, that is duelittle and 79 usual and international boulevard where he says his daughter was snatched from a car yesterday around 11:00 arm which led to his arrest last night. police took him in on child endangerment charges. >> investigators became concerned yesterday during the investigation when we learned that he drove to the 1400 block of 79th avenue, he left a 21-month-old child, his little girl, daphne viola webb, in the car with his mother who is 87 years old and suffers from

dementia. there are some safety concerns. >> that being said, bless expect that he will be released on those charges today. they say he along with the mother and other family members are cooperating but we know police got a search warrant before going into the family home. they say that is standard procedure. a large search effort continues today. police, f.b.i., dogs and helicopters and, later, today, a marine unit will aid in the search. a marine unit has underwater capability. >> thank you, katie. now the latest on the asiana flight 214 crash. officials have an estimate for re-opening the runway that flight 214 was trying to land on. we will get the latest on the ntsb crash investigation in a couple of hours. abc7 news reporter is at sfo. amy hollyfield? >> i got briefed bay spokesman who says the runway could open in a couple of days.

i asked him to repeat that and he said, yes, it is possible it could be opened in a couple of days. the effort started overnight. look at this video clearing the runway. you can see they moved big pieces out of the way. they are almost finishing clearing it but they need 500 tons of asphalt to re-pave it. they cannot clean out wreckage until the ntsb released to them and they do not know what damage they will find. >> when we lift up the aircraft and move it out of the way, that is left to be done under the aircraft? we expect there will be a lot of hazardous material, jet fuel, hydraulic fuel to be cleaned up in the area. we also expect well have to re-pave the section of asphalt on the runway that was damaged by the accident. we also the work with the f.a.a. to reinstall the precision approach path indicator that was damaged in the incident.

>> they are hoping ntsb will town the records over to them today and they will practice moving it. they don't know if it will buckle when they lit it, if it will leak. they will be gentle but they have to work quickly. 10 percent of flights are canceled at sfo each day. ntsb investigators think they are going to still be here for a while but the chairman is about to head home. she is meeting with victims and families this morning. she will hold her last briefing at 2:00 this afternoon. >> thank you. a crew member from the plight is already making her way back home. she arrived if south korea today and through a translators offered condolences to the victims. >> i have kids at home so i wanted to come to korea. i am happy we are here now. my heart breaks when i think of our colleagues and patients at the hospital. >> she is called a hero if helping so many passengers to

safe and carrying one on her back despite having a broken tailbone. >> extent chinese students who survived the crash finally got to see san francisco last night. these are perks from the dinner they attended at the chinese consequence general's home in san francisco. students posted other pictures on social media saying that the counsel general encouraged them to be brave and offered continued support. earlier, he arranged for students to have video conversations with families back home and at the dinner he gave them san francisco t-shirts. one student described this meal as a "much needed state of home," and he sent me a message this morning saying and i quote, "san francisco is a great city." >> abc7 news has obtained the dramatic 9-1-1 calls made directly from passengers who escaped the crash plane. a range of motions from passengers. one was calm. another was more agitated as they waited.

>> we are at the for for and we saw a plane crash. a lot of people need help. is there any way you can get people here? >> were you on the plane? >> i was. we are on the ground, been here 20 minutes or half an hour and people are waiting on the tarmac with critical injuries. we are trying to keep people alive. >> the san francisco fire department says in a large-scale emergency they stage ambulances a distance away from the aircraft in case it explodes and they say the victims may not have seen a lot of medical personnel but they were working triage. we will continue coverage of asiana flight 214 and the ntsb will hold the last briefing at 2:00 p.m. when it happens we will bring it to you live right here on abc7 news. you can also watch it on our new abc7 news app and on abc7news.com. >> san francisco police are investigating a shooting in the city's bayview district this

morning. a 28-year-old man was shot several times near the intersection at lane street and was taken to the general hospital. his condition is not known. the suspect who opened fire got away. officers are still looking for that suspect right now. >> a santa rosa man is in the hospital after a power much hash oil explosion. police say the 31-year-old man was making hash oil in his bathroom and the laboratory exploded. when cooked down it is the most potent form of marijuana. he suffered severe burns across most of his body and is in life-threatening condition. two women were also in the apartment when the explosion took place but they were not hurt. >> all lanes of southbound 101 through sausalito are open after a downed street snarled the commute. the tree fell and landed across three southbound lanes near the spencer avenue exit in sausalito. one car could not avoid hitting it and drove it to the branches. all of this happened north of the waldo tunnel and it took a while before emergency crews

were able to clear the tree from the lanes and re-open traffic. the cause of the fallen tree is not determined and the highway patrol says the tree was planned on caltran property. >> san francisco jury of international sailing experts is getting ready to rule on controversial safety recommendations involving the america's cup. at stake is whether to uphold safety recommendations made by the regatta director, his recommendations which permit the use of larger, heavier wings on the rudders of the catamarans to increase stability after the accident that killed a sailor with new zealand and italy protesting the changes maintaining the design rules were agreed to years ago and only benefit the two teams that have capsized, sweden and america. one sponsor of the cup wants a refund: louis vuitton is asking $3 million of the $10 million be

to be around for the america's cup, and we will talk about about...the bay looks like glass this morning. the cooling is spread inland today and the east bay valley will see the biggest drop compared to year. clouds tonight and drizzle is possible again. the highs will start to warm up slowly this week. we are not looking at huge warming trend this weekend but we will try to get to average if today. only the east bay valley is close to average and oakland and san francisco three to ten degrees cooler than where we should be. we have dry air over the top of us so if we get the atmosphere overturned we will get a lot of sunshine and that will happen this afternoon but the coast will be senator my and the dry air kept all the moisture away so we did not have the themes yesterday afternoon and they stayed to the south like we not they would. more sunshine in los gatos and mid-80's, but let to mid-70's for most of the south bay with let to mid-70's on the peninsula
